Located in the heart of the Thar Desert Jaisalmer, the golden city of Rajasthan draws millions of tourists from across the globe. This golden city is quite famous for the Jaisalmer Fort, the only living fort in India which is perched on a hillock. This heritage city was established by Rawal Jaisal in 1156 AD. Travel Attractions at Jaisalmer:

Jaisalmer Fort: Located on 100 meters above the city, Jaisalmer Fort houses palaces and temples inside it. Made of red sandstone this fort dominates the entire landscape of the city. The market place Manek Chowk is located outside the fort. The Jain temples located inside the fort are also attractions for the tourists.

Patwon-Ki-Haveli: One of the major attractions of Jaisalmer, Patwon-Ki Haveli is worth viewing for its intricate latticed havelies with facades.

Salim Singh Ki-Haveli: Salim Singh Ki-Haveli was once the residence of the Mohta clan, the ministers to the rulers of Jaisalmer. The blue cupola roof and décor of the havelies are the main attractions.

Nathmakji-Ki-Haveli: The intricate stone carvings of the Nathmakji-Ki-Haveli are the main attractions to the tourists.

Tazia Tower: Rising from Badal Mahal, Tazia Tower draws the attention of the travelers. The carved balcony of the tower wonders the eyes.

Gadsisar Lake: A picnic spot near Jaisalmer, Gadsisar Lake is an oasis in desert. While touring Jaisalmer one must visit this lake to enjoy the scenery.

Excursions from Jaisalmer:

Lodurva Jain temples: Lodurva is a destination located on the outskirts of Jaisalmer city. The Jain temples of Ludurva are worth visiting. The architecture of the temples has some similarity with the Jain temples of Ranakpur.

Ludurva was erstwhile the capital of Rawal Jaisal.

Sam Village & Camel Safari: Sam sand dune village is located on the outskirts of the Jaisalmer city. While in Jaisalmer one must visit the Sam village to explore the vast stretches of golden sand dunes and the desert cultural life of the local people. Sam village is visited for desert safari and to view the sunset on the sand dunes. Swiss camel tents are arranged for the tourist for night stay at Sam village. Spending a night under the cerulean sky one can truly feel the charm of the night stay at a desert.

Khuri village: Rajasthan village tour itinerary covers Khuri village located at a distance of 40 kms from Jaisalmer, the golden city of Rajasthan. If you has a penchant for the village life of desert Rajasthan can tour the Khuri village. The beauty of Khuri village wonders the travelers. Food selling and handcrafts are the major source of livelihood to the villagers. During the tour to Khuri one can have the pleasure of jeep safari and camel safari. The folk dance and music of the village is also rich and attraction to the cultural freaks.

Desert national Park is also located near Jaisalmer city. Visiting this park, one can explore the desert wildlife.
