Junagarh Fort, this is one of the forts in India which has been unconquered till date.

The 6th ruler of Bikaner, and a general in the army of Akbar Raja Rai Singh, built the Junagarh Fort, this is one of the forts in India which has been unconquered till date. High walls and deep moats surround the fort. Two entrance gates are there, and 37 bastions of the fort guard the entire fort. The main entrance gate is Suraj pol or Sun Gate.

Junagarh Fort in its inside comprises 37 palaces, pavilions and temples. The main features of the palaces are minutely carved windows, towers, kiosks and balconies; the Moon Palace is embellished with mirror works, paintings and carved marbled panels. The Phool Palace is also wonderfully beautiful with its mirrors and glass. After the death of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb the Karan Mahal was built in memory of him.

The multi-storied Anup Mahal is one of the major attractions of the fort; it was once used as governance chambers. The rooms of the palace now have some belongings of the royalty. The other main palaces of the fort are Dungar Niwas, Ganga Niwas, Rang Mahal and Vijay Mahal. Junagarh Fort also has a museum which houses a collection of Jewelry, manuscripts, jars and carpets, arms and weapons.
